Herbs in Action
- Red root: Ceanothus americanus has been used for hundreds of years in traditional medicine and is popular among herbalists and natural medicine practitioners today to stimulate the lymphatic system. Native Americans have a long history of using Red Root as an herbal ally. It was brewed as a tea and used to support optimal immune strength, vital respiratory system function, and the body's natural detoxification process.
- Red Clover aerials: Trifolium Pratense is a favorite of bees and is now naturalized in North America. Red Clover blossoms gently support the body's ability to eliminate wastes and act as an expectorant, helping the body expel any excess mucus from the bronchioles, which in turn helps support healthy immune function. Red Clover is also considered a mild lymphatic and is commonly used as a mild cleansing herb.
- Cleavers aerials: Galium aparine is a weed commonly found in fields across North America and Europe. Cleavers aerials support the lymphatic system's natural functions and promote healthy fluid movement throughout the body. It is traditionally used to support the body's natural cleansing processes and waste elimination.
- Echinacea Angustifolia root: Echinacea angustifolia is well-known for its seasonal wellness support. Echinacea seems to activate chemicals in the body that support a healthy inflammatory response and activates the body's immune system.
- Baptisia root: Baptisia tinctoria, also known as Wild Indigo, is native to the Northeastern United States and supports healthy lymphatic function, carrying immune properties into the nooks and crannies of the head.
- Calendula flower: Calendula officinalis may help support the immune system's natural functions and promote healthy microbial balance. This traditional flower is valued for its natural compounds that support the body's natural defenses and overall wellness.

Why is it better to sleep on my back after surgery?
Doctors recommend sleeping on your back post-mastectomy - and many other surgeries! - to manage surgical drains and dressings. Sleeping on your back helps you to heal optimally and protects incisions from excess pressure.
How can I stay on my back if I'm naturally a side sleeper?
Providing support on both sides of your body is the key to staying on your back while sleeping. The two contoured side pillows in the Sleep Again Pillow System are designed to do just that - provide support to keep you snugly in place.
Why does my upper body have to stay elevated after surgery?
Doctors recommend that you sleep with your upper body elevated after surgery to reduce swelling and bruising. It also improves circulation and reduces fluid build up. In addition, elevating your upper body makes getting out of bed easier.
Why does a wedge under my knees help after surgery?
Elevating your legs after surgery helps prevent swelling. A wedge pillow under your knees can also help with proper alignment in your back.
What arm limitations are recommended after a double mastectomy?
Following a double mastectomy, doctors recommend that you do not raise your arms above your shoulders. This is to protect incisions and sutures as well as keep drains in place.
